If you live in Douglas County or you’re thinking about making the move, June is the month that reminds you exactly why you chose this place. The air is warm, the mountains are close, the trails are dry, and the community is buzzing. Summer kicks off here with a full calendar and a lifestyle that’s hard to match anywhere else on the Front Range.

Here’s your guide to the best events, new restaurants, and outdoor activities worth your time this June.

Why Douglas County Is One of Colorado’s Best Places to Live in 2026

Douglas County sits between Denver and Colorado Springs, offering quick access to both cities while keeping a small-town feel in places like downtown Castle Rock and Old Town Parker. Neighborhoods are walkable, schools are highly rated, and the outdoor recreation is right outside your front door.

June is when the Douglas County lifestyle hits its peak. Evenings are long, wildflowers are blooming along the trail systems, and the entire community seems to step outside all at once.

New Restaurants to Check Out in Douglas County

The Brinkerhoff, Castle Rock

Perched above the city with sweeping views of Sleeping Indian Mountain and the Front Range, The Brinkerhoff has been generating serious buzz since opening in early 2026. Arched entryways inspired by Mexican aqueducts, cantera stone on the facade, an open kitchen inside. The menu blends deep Colorado roots with Mexican culinary influences from co-founder Jo Mendoza Brinkerhoff. For Douglas County dining, this one is a standout.

Homegrown Tap & Dough, Downtown Castle Rock

Opened in late December 2025, this downtown Castle Rock spot from a well-known Denver hospitality group serves hand-tossed pizzas, quality pasta, and a solid lineup of Colorado craft beers and cocktails. Easy to build a whole evening around, especially with the historic district right outside.

Egg Harbor Cafe, Highlands Ranch

The first Colorado location for the brand, Egg Harbor Cafe fills a real gap in the Highlands Ranch breakfast and brunch scene. Hours run 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. No reservations needed.

Starbird Chicken, Castle Rock Promenade

Opened in April 2026, this California-based fast-casual concept offers sandwiches, salads, wings, and tenders made with quality ingredients. A solid step above the typical fast-food options at the Promenade.

Los Dos Potrillos, Castle Rock Promenade

Built from the ground up over two years, this 9,000-square-foot restaurant blends the feel of a Mexican resort with Colorado mountain vibes. Sweeping dining room views, vibrant textiles, and a tortilla-making station near the entrance. The sixth Colorado location for a chain that has built a real following across the Denver metro.
